My Aunt wants a single cup coffee maker. All of my mother appliances in her kitchen are red so i need the coffee maker to be red (aunt lives with mother). I have found single cup coffee makers, ones which are even red but i didn’t know that i would also have to purchase specific coffee packages such as K-CUPS for single coffee makers. But my aunt like Folgers coffee and i would think that buying single coffee packages would be expensive even if Folgers makes them. My question is is there any single cup coffee makers that i can purchase and use any coffee of my choice, and use regular coffee without packages, and without have to buy expensive small coffee packages? I am considering buying one because I like the design ….. does it make the best coffee however?
I am always told the best is an electric percolator since it cycles the coffee several times and keeps the heat, but if I could get away with something that amuses me, I would take a French press.
Maybe you can leave a French press over a small heat source???

I like coffee from a french press; it has a more developed, complex flavour. You have to use a course ground coffee in a press. You cannot put them on any heat source, the carafe will eventually shatter. Since most are either 2 or 4 cups, they are not good when making coffee for several people. However, a press is great when making coffee for just yourself. Coffee from a press is to be drinken fresh and not to be stored as it will get cold quickly.Bodum makes some fabulous presses.

God save the chica, who was born here, wearing clothing as bright as the sun, trying to chase away the rain because she can’t afford an umbrella. Twelve hours a day, she picks granos de café and listens to the radio, Martín Torrijos, presidente has thirty rooms to himself while her family sleeps seven to a bed. Her father screams, “Oye, ten cuidado,” while she plays, “when you break your arm we will all starve!” She attends school three hours a week, and she’s Miss Analfabeta. The teacher comes only for the plata and tells stories of America. She dreams of the U.S. and the gringos in Sierra Punta, and I dream of her and buy fair trade.
Beautiful. You made me feel like I was there in Panama with the coffee growers.
The only problem is the use of so many Spanish expressions that a reader may not understand. I see the point of giving your paragraph local flavor. However, I have a major in Spanish, and even I didn’t know what “placas de alto” meant.
Non-Spanish speakers may understand “chica”, “plata”, and “granos de cafe”. But they may not know what “Oye, ten cuidado” and “analfabeta” mean.
Other than that, your creative writing touched and moved me!
