COFFEE BLENDS
Why do my blended coffee drinks always turn out icy?

I’ve tried to make blended coffee drinks several different ways. I love the flavor, but the drinks always are icy– no matter how long I blend them for. I was thinking about freezing milk for the ice? I don’t know! How does Starbucks make their frappuccinos not icy?

I like my coffee based drinks quite strong and rich in taste so I freeze some coffee concentrate (I use cold brewed coffee for that) and use the coffee cubes instead of ice.

The blender also makes a big difference. If you are after really good coffee based blended drinks you may want to get Margaritaville. It really makes a difference to your blended drinks.

which bean will grow best in the winter?

I need your help. I need to go to the store to buy some beans, but I don’t know which one. Which bean grows best in the winter by a window? I’m doing my science experiment on: Which color light do plants grow best in. The problem is that I don’t know which bean will actually GROW in the winter by a window. I don’t want a fancy one, either, just one that I can buy at the grocery store.thx thx thx.

I don’t think it matters what bean seeds you pick, for growing in a window. I’ve used lima beans and pinto beans both, but I think they all grow similarly. Warmth is the main requirement for growth. Your seeds will sprout faster if you soak them overnight in warm water before planting.

Roasted coffee
what is acidity level in roasted coffee and how is it measured?

The acidity level in coffee is one of the defining characteristics of different brands, strains of bean (which is really a seed), and roasting style. There are about ten different species of coffee plant, surely attributing to the different levels of acidity as well as the region and soil/water content.

The roasting process has an enormous impact on the attributes of the coffee. These attributes are often referred to as body, acidity, and balance.

To answer your question more specifically, first you’d have to determine the type of coffee you’d like to know more about. Often large commercial coffee producers use a variety of beans of various qualities and roast it dark to mask or blend the differences.

While I’m certain you can find a way to use a chemistry lab to discover the actual ph balance in coffee in question, (the general balance is roughly pH 6.9) most people just use comparative tasting to determine which is more acidic (the zing or bite, not bitterness) than another. The scientific definition of acidity is not exactly the same as the attribute applied to the flavor of coffee.

Enjoy!
