The Jamaican Blue Mtn coffee growing region is quite small. Japan has contracted to get most of the good stuff (85%) by investing in the plantations. Most of the coffee marketed as Jamaican Blue Mountain isn’t authentic. The real stuff costs a small fortune.

That said – I’m sure there are some small specialty stores in the U.S. that carry it, but not big national chains. Whether there is a store that carries it near you depends on where you live.

Good for your mom! Not only is the caffeine in coffee drinks a drug, but those things are LOADED with fatty calories. They are unhealthy for anyone, let alone an 11 year old. Ask your mom to do what I do for my daughter. I make her a version of a moolate, using decaf coffee, fresh yogurt, and agave nectar. She and all of her friends love them, and they have none of the fat, calories, and nasty stuff that is in the commercially sold ones. Kids don’t always agree with mom’s decisions, but know that we do it out of love, so don’t be hard on her. Your friends mom’s simply don’t realize how bad those drinks are for their kids!

What is the best caffeine-free tea?

I really prefer black tea to herbal, and I can’t stand green, chamomile or peppermint tea. But I don’t want the caffeine in my diet. So can anyone suggest any teas that taste similar to black tea but with no (or less) caffeine? Are there any that are designed to have strong with a little milk, because that’s how I like mine, and I know herbal teas generally don’t go well with milk.

If you want something decaf that tastes like black tea but isn’t decaf black tea, give rooibos (red tea) a try. It really does taste rather similar and would probably taste more similar if you added a bit of milk South African style.

White Peony white tea tastes kind of fruity, I guess.
